Before household goods arrive: your temporary essentials list
Separate confirmed home items, temporary needs and questions before your shipment arrives. Use a three-column worksheet and verify any lending service directly.
An arrival-day home can need a different shopping list from a fully settled home. Before buying everything at once, separate what you already have, what you need temporarily, and what you still need to confirm.
The official Humphreys newcomers page describes an Army Community Service lending closet for temporary essential household items. It does not confirm that any particular item is available for you today. Ask the service directly about eligibility, current inventory, collection arrangements and return conditions before making plans around it.
Your temporary essentials worksheet
PDI MARU suggests making three columns:

Record the source of each confirmation. A furnished-home description, a government support program and your own shipment are separate sources; do not count the same item twice. Review the list when your delivery date changes.

Update the note when plans change
Add the date and the person or official source that confirmed each item. If the shipment date moves, check temporary arrangements again before assuming an extension. Keep private contact details and shipping documents out of public notes.
