Before a city taxi ride: destination, payment and receipt

Start with three checks

Have the destination ready, ask about your payment method, and keep a record of the completed trip. The Korea Tourism Organization describes metered fares as the usual arrangement and lists cash, credit cards and transportation cards as payment options. Confirm your intended method before setting off; acceptance of your particular card has not been tested.

Show the destination and the entrance

Save the destination in Korean along with the entrance or meeting point you need. Keep it on your phone so you can show the driver privately. In a booking app, compare the selected destination with your note before confirming. For a property viewing, obtain the meeting point from the property contact separately; a taxi booking does not confirm a viewing appointment.

Check the ride type and payment

Read the taxi type, estimate and any separate booking charge before accepting an app booking. KTO notes that a call-service charge may be added to the fare. Keep an estimate separate from the final amount: this guide provides no current fare table or fixed journey price. If a payment method is unclear, settle that question before the ride.

Finish with a receipt

Before leaving, check the payment result and ask for a receipt. Keep the receipt or trip record privately, together with the time of the ride. Check the seat for your belongings.
