Before plugging in: a 220 V / 60 Hz arrival checklist
Read your device and power-supply labels before connecting to Korea’s 220 V, 60 Hz supply. Keep a model-specific note and confirm unclear requirements with the manufacturer.
Read the label before the plug
Korea uses a 220 V, 60 Hz electricity supply, and the Korea Tourism Organization describes outlets with two round holes. Before connecting a device after arrival, check the label on the device and its power supply. A familiar-looking plug is not a compatibility check.
Make a device-specific note
Make a small inventory before unpacking. Record the device model, the input voltage and frequency printed on its label, its power rating, and any manufacturer instructions for use in Korea. Photograph the label for your own reference. Do not post serial numbers or personal documents in a public advice request.
Resolve uncertainty before connecting
If a label is missing or unclear, leave the device disconnected until the manufacturer or an appropriate service provider confirms what is required. Ask a specific question: “Is this model suitable for a 220 V, 60 Hz supply, and what connection equipment does the manufacturer specify?” Avoid choosing equipment solely because its plug fits.
Ask your accommodation first
For a temporary stay, ask the accommodation what connection equipment it provides before buying anything. The tourism authority notes that some hotels may lend or sell adapters; availability at your accommodation has not been checked.
